Phnom Penh
Phnom Penh is considered the loveliest of the French-built cities of Indochina. Phnom Penh sits at the confluence of the Mekong, Tonle Bassac and Tonle Sap Rivers. The riverfront area is undoubtedly one of the most splendid in Asia.
Highlights
One legend tells that Phnom Penh was founded when an old woman named Penh found four Buddha images on the banks of the Mekong. She housed them on a nearby hill, and the town that emerged around the hill became Phnom Penh (Hill of Penh).
